Online Learning – Yes or No?

Online education resources can play an important primary or secondary role in your children's education. They may be a great choice if you'd like to spend less time planning or have specific learning goals that you'd like to achieve. Points to consider when choosing a course:
1. Where do the courses come from? Is it a reliable source?
2. Is the course exactly what you were looking for, or are there elements that aren't necessary for your learner?
3. Is there enough information about all of the course components so you know exactly what you are getting?

4. Is technical (and perhaps teacher) help available in case you have questions? If so, during specific hours?

5. Is the website user-friendly for both you and your student? Are FAQs understandable and easily found?
6. Can you download and print materials or lessons or can they only be viewed and worked online? Will the time spent on the computer be too long for your child? Some children find it easier to read from paper rather than the computer screen.
7. Do you have the equipment required to easily access and interact with the website? If not, consider CD-ROMS or other software that doesn't require a high-speed internet connection.
To use online resources effectively, make sure that you know how they will fit your education plan and spend some time reading reviews before you buy. Course samples are generally available at the product site, along with free trial offers.
