Ok, so if you all live in the Orange County area of Southern California, then I have an opportunity for you and your family. Tanka Farms, down here by me, is making available gleaning opportunities for you and your family. This is a great way to teach our kids about doing for others as well as teaching the Biblical principle of gleaning! Here is the information I received from them. Have Fun!
Looking to volunteer?
Here is your opportunity!
For the past several years Tanaka Farms has been donating produce to South County Outreach and Families Forward in Irvine. Each week the two food pantries provide about 350 needy families groceries to help them through some difficult times and the fresh produce that we provide is a very welcomed supplement to the normal staples that a family receives.
Tanaka Farms is inviting you to come out to the farm and help us harvest the crops to help these families maintain a healthy, nutritious diet.
This is a great opportunity for individuals, families, boy scouts, girl scouts or anyone that has the desire to lend a helping hand!
What better way to create a bond with our children than to bring them out to the farm, work side by side with them, let them see where their food comes from and to help others in our community all at the same time.
We will be offering these volunteer opportunities on Monday and Wednesday afternoons at 3:30 pm. Plan on spending about 2 to 21/2 hours at the farm. You must pre-register as we will only be able to accommodate 25 volunteers at one time.
Please arrive arrive at 3:15 pm to check in and be ready to head out to the field at 3:30.
Please wear closed toe shoes and clothes that you are not afraid to get dirty. Feel free to bring gloves if you like.
Below, click on the day that you would like to volunteer and register online. You may also register others that will be in your group. We can only accommodate 25 volunteers at one time, but if you are registering a group and and there are not any more space allowed, please contact me at Glenn@TanakaFarms.com tell me how many more volunteers you have. If it is four or five, we should be able to accommodate you all.
Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you at the Farm!
