What is Easter?

On Easter Sunday, most Christians celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Did you know that this is typically the most well-attended Sunday service of the year next to Christmas. Sorry to say, but that is sad. What happens the rest of the year to those Christians that do not attend? Notice I said "Do not" not "Can not!"

As a Christian, we believe what the Scripture have taught us, that Jesus  was raised from the dead, three days after his death on the cross. As part of the Easter season, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ is commemorated on Good Friday, always the Friday just before Easter. This year, April 22nd. Through his death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty for sin, therefore, purchasing for all who believe in him, eternal life in Christ Jesus. AMEN!

So what is the point of telling you all this. Because a lot of you already know this, believe this and practice this. Right? But there are many of us who have family members who still have no idea! Do you see the last sentence in the second paragraph? How many of your family members will miss out on that eternal life because we were either too scared or timid to bring the subject up or maybe we just have not had the opportunity with some distant relatives.

Now is the time! Today! invite all your friends and relatives to join you and you family for Eater morning service at your home church. Give them the seed that could sprout to a fruitful tree tomorrow. Jesus paid the price not just for you to keep in your heart but for you to share with everyone so that everyone will have eternal life! I am not saying to be brutish and overbearing about it, but talk about it. This is the time that your family members will expect you to say something so go for it!

May you all have a fantastic Easter and enjoy the day filled with food, laughs, family and Jesus Christ as center stage. Happy Easter!
