I know some of you have no idea what a lapbook is and others of you just absolutely love the thought of lapbooks. So lets start with what is a Lapbook fr those of you who have no idea what I am talking about.
A lapbook, simply put, is an interesting way of notebooking with a scrapbook flare to it! The basics of what you would need to lapbook is a file folder or two, paper, scissors, glue, colored crayons or pencils and a topic to learn about. I personally have a love/hate relationship with lapbooks.
The hate parts are as follows…after you are all done cutting and putting them all together then you have to figure a place to store them all, and I have quite a few. Personally I have used magazine holders to store them now! Also, neither of my children enjoy making them nearly as much as I do therefore I end up doing the majority of the cutting and they just end up coloring and of course filling in the pullouts etc.
Now for my likes. I enjoy taking time to learn about a certain subject. I like to go to the library and get a bunch of books on a subject. And with a lapbook it allows you to write down in a creative way all the information you have learned about. I love the way it keeps your mind and hands busy as you look over your completed lapbook and re-learn what you have taken the time to read about. And I love the looks on my kids face…the pride they have once they are done.
I have to admit I have now found a way to incorporate lapbooking into subjects like science and history and incorporate it with my notebooking as well. This allows me to keep it all in one place instead of having my notebooks and lapbooks. Plus I do not use file folder anymore but just plain cardstock 3 hole punched.
Ok, so with all that said and done you are probably wondering why I explained all that just for a free lapbook. Well, I just wanted to introduce those of you to the spills and thrills of lapbooking. I highly recommend that you at least try it once or twice and see what the reaction of your children are. See if they show it off at the Easter table Sunday afternoon.
So how do you get this free lapbook? Go to http://www.filefolderfun.com/SubjectEaster.html. They may ask you to sign up as a member. That is OK! They do not spam you with a ton of junk nor do they sell email addresses. What you will get is an email once in a while with free lapbook projects.
Give it a try! What do you have to loose? What do you have to gain? Lots of fun and learning about our blessed time of year, Easter. Have fun and Happy Hoppin!
