CHEA Convention is Here

OK, so you are thinking, Kristin, what is the big deal about going to a homeschool convention? Well, let me tell you, as a homeschool Mom, we need to re-evaluate what we are doing all the time.  We need to make sure that we are using the right curriculum or Method. Remember that we can not get stuck into a Method or curriculum, because then we are doing what the public schools do. Trying to fit our children into a Method of homeschool or a certain curriculum instead of fitting the curriculum/Method to them!

Well, the conventions give you meat to think on. I think that is why they wait till the school year is over or mid term. This gives us time to look over the year and see what we have done and figure out if it was successful. There are so many different vendors there that it gives you a chance to see what is available and "try b4 you buy" type thing. This is one of my favorite parts. I get to feel the books, see the books, read the books and ask the vendors those critical questions that web sites just can not give you!

Also as homeschoolers, we are around our children daily. This is the BEST part of homeschooling, but this can also be the worst part. Because of this we may not have the needed time to  listen to all those wonderful CD's of conference speakers that our friends have so graciously borrowed to us. This is one time a year and gives us the opportunity to hear not just one speaker, but many speakers on many different subjects all in a day or two.

Plus we all know that we need time to ourselves. This is it! This gives you just another opportunity to have a day or two to yourself. To be with many like minded individuals talking about the same thing you are doing. To get rejuvenated for the following year. To have a new outlook on homeschooling. To re-think what we are doing and making sure it is working for our children!

So, yes, I do recommend you go to the CHEA convention. Not only are you supporting the largest California homeschool support group, but you are also supporting your family with a new re-energized attitude towards homeschooling.

OK, so what does this all cost? Well, it is not completely cheap, but it is not too expensive. They lowered thier prices from the last few years. Below is the cost break down if you pre register NOW. Look I know it is not cheap, but really consider going. I know for sure you will not regret it. Everyone I have ever talked to who has been reluctant to go said they were so glad they did. Good luck to you and see you at CHEA!

Pre-register before June 13, 2011.
